i think the funny thing about being an arab post 9/11 is that people think we hate the west/america and that we are inherently terrorists. when you have those things assumed about you it's not particularly easy to like america especially when those things are coming from patriots, thus confirming peoples beliefs about you and your community. what makes it worse is when the US government is actively, and has been destroying your family's home region for ages now
so like, what do we do in this situation? do we stoke the government's ego and confirm their suspicion, or simply submit and let people call us an "inferior culture"?
